February 2, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street  – “Buy Nothing New”

In light of the high cost and inefficient recycling programs nationwide, many of which are closing, Americans should focus on reducing our use of excess packaging, throw-away items and planned obsolescence. Heidi Ogas will lead a discussion of this world-wide problem.

“When Jeff Goin suggested we try to buy nothing new in 2020, I instantly thought of thrift shops,” Ogas said. “Did you know we have six non-profit thrift shops in downtown Silver City?”

During today’s service, a representative from each of the six thrift shops will talk about their missions, what their profits support and what they sell.

Although this is not a formal Family Program Sunday, childcare and creative activities will be available for the youngsters.

There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are always welcome.
