A staged reading of "River Girl" will be performed at the Webb Theater on the WNMU campus Sunday November 6 at 7 p.m.

Karen Rossman plays Mama, a griefsick Mexican mother who waits in vain, five years after the U.S. invasion of New Mexico, for her twin sons to return from the war. Heather Castello plays River Girl, a wayward daughter who marries a river, and who hides the sad fate of her twin brothers whose horse has returned to their valley. "Dos Arbolitos," a 1930's Mexican song written by Chucho Martinez Gil, will be sung a capella by vocalist Angelica Rose Padilla.

Admission is free, no late seating.

"River Girl" is the third play in poet and dramatist Victoria Tester's fifteen-act New Mexico Ghost Play Cycle. Tester is actively seeking a rainbow of female actors, musicians and singers to participate in the staged reading series, which will run through October 2012 at the Silver City Museum Annex in conjunction with the NM State Centennial.
