Saturday, August 3 (10am) at the Santa Fe Veterans Memorial, 407 Galisteo St. (NW Corner of the Bataan Memorial Bldg.)

(SANTA FE, NM) – Purple Heart Award recipients will be honored at a special Purple Heart Recognition Ceremony in Santa Fe on Saturday, August 3.

Purple Heart Award recipients, their family members, friends, and the public are invited to attend the 10a.m. ceremony at the Santa Fe Veterans Memorial in downtown Santa  Fe, located at 407 Galisteo Street (at the northeast corner of the Bataan Memorial Building). 

The ceremony is presented by the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services, the New Mexico National Guard, the Department of New Mexico Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Rivera Family Funeral Home, and the City of Santa Fe to honor recipients for their sacrifice in service of our country.

The Purple Heart Award is our nation’s oldest combat decoration. It is presented to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy. It is also awarded posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds resulting from combat.
