In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. 

White Sands Missile Range Notification

Traffic updates are posted on the NMDOT traffic advisory web-site at http://nmroads.com and can be retrieved through our automated system at 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269 from any line.White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) has posted an alert for Saturday August 10, 2019 for US 70 that will last approximately one hour. Block starting at 11:10 pm for approximately 1 hour and should be lifted at 12:10 am.  This block will be located at Red Block (Mile Marker 164 / Top of St. Augustin Pass) and Yellow Block (Mile Marker 200 / White Sands National Monument). The Las Cruces Gate, Owen Road and Nike will also be affected by this Road block.

Interstates: 

I-10, Mile Marker 91.7 to 116.0, Deming

Mountain States Construction Co., INC. (Contractor) will continue roadway rehabilitation along Interstate 10. Multiple lane closures will be in effect on both the westbound and eastbound lanes with an 11’ width restriction. Hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.  

I-10, Mile Marker 116.0 to 129, Las Cruces

Braiser Asphalt (Contractor) will begin the milling and repaving of the top layer of asphalt along I-10. Lane closures will be in effect on both the eastbound and westbound lanes with an 11’ width restriction. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.  

I-10, Mile Marker 85.5, Deming 

The New Mexico Department of Transportation will have intermittent personnel and equipment on the roadway for bridge deck repairs. Traffic will encounter lane closures on the eastbound lanes. Speed limits will be reduced to 45 mph, closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Construction hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and is expected to be completed by fall 2019.

I-10, Mile Marker 138, Las Cruces 

The New Mexico Department of Transportation will have employees and equipment on I-10 eastbound at mile post 138 “Rio Grande Bridge” for painting of the barrier wall. Traffic lanes will be reduced down to one lane at a time. Traffic can expect a reduced speed of 45 mph during construction hours. Construction is expected to be completed by August 30, 2019.

I-25, Mile Marker 0 to 7, Las Cruces 

Bixby Electric (Contractor) will continue installation of fiber for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Lane closures and shoulder work will be in effect on both the northbound and southbound lanes. Hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by November 2019.  

I-10, Mile Marker 133 to 164, Las Cruces to Texas State Line

Valley Fence (Contractor) is currently finalizing the guardrail replacement along Interstate 10 in Dona Ana Co. starting at milepost 133 to the Texas State line. Traffic will encounter various passing and driving lane closures along I-10 on the eastbound and westbound lanes throughout the project. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2019. 

U.S. Roadways:

US 70 westbound, Mile Marker 160 to 159, Las Cruces 

A Mountain Construction (Contractor) will begin drainage improvements on Bataan Memorial West along US 70 at Brahman Road. Traffic will encounter a ramp closure on US 70 westbound along with lane closures on Bataan Memorial West and Nasa Road, detour will be in place. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, starting Monday. Construction is expected to be completed by August 30, 2019.  

State Roadways:

NM 181, Mile Marker 3 to 4, T or C 

La Calerita (Contractor) is currently performing bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction operations on NM 181 in Sierra County. NM 181 will be CLOSED during construction with a detour in place. The closure will be 24 hours a day, construction hours will be from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2019. 

NM 188 Valley Drive/ NM 28 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces

AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is performing roadway reconstruction, utility replacements and lighting/signalization improvements on Valley Drive and Avenida de Mesilla. Currently there is (1) active zone of construction on Valley Drive from Amador to Avenida de Mesilla. 

Traffic on Valley Drive will be placed in the northbound lanes to allow full reconstruction of the southbound lanes from Avenida de Mesilla to Amador. Left hand turns will only be allowed at signals, please follow detour signage along Valley Drive. Brown Road will have a detour in place, access will be provided at all times. 

Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 

NM 15 “Pinos Altos”, Mile Marker 0 to 1.21, Silver City

TLC Construction (Contractor) will be finalizing roadway reconstruction, installation of curb and gutter, sidewalk and bike lanes. All lanes are now open. Contractor's hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Construction is scheduled to be completed by summer of 2019.

NM 136 “Pete V Domenici Hwy”, Mile Marker 0.448 to 9.168, Santa Teresa 

FNF Construction, INC. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, roadway rehabilitation, bridge rehabilitation, and signalization & lighting along NM 136, Pete V Domenici Intl. Hwy. Traffic will have an 11’ width restriction with only a 2’ median and shoulder.  Traffic from milepost 5.25 (north of Airport Rd.) to 9.379(NM/TX Stateline) will be detoured into the southbound lanes for the next phase of construction. Milepost 5.2 to 0 (International Border) all lanes are now open with only occasional single lane closures as needed. Construction on Airport Road west will be complete as of Tuesday August 6, 2019. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 

NM 498 “Racetrack Drive” Mile Marker 0.600 to 0.900, Sunland Park 

Hasse Contracting Co., Inc. (Contractor) construction is currently performing removals of existing deck edge to prepare for new Metal Railing installation.  NM 498 is closed from Doniphan Drive to Futurity Drive; detour is in place on Sunland Park Drive. Construction is scheduled to be complete by October 2019.

NM 273 “McNutt Road” Mile Marker 0 - 3, Sunland Park 

Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, signalization & lighting along NM 273 “McNutt Rd”. Traffic is switched over to the south side of McNutt Rd from 4th Street to Racetrack Dr. Please be aware that the north side of the intersection of McNutt & Sunland Park Dr. will be closed for approximately 2-3 months during construction; public will have access to businesses on the south side. Nighttime operations are now in effect in order to minimize impacts to business. The contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019. 

Chip Seal Projects, Sierra Co:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Chip Sealing” and “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Sierra and Socorro Co.  Speed limit will be reduced, traffic will encounter no center stripe and there will be loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.

Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces:

Arroyo Road

From Red Hawk Golf Road to Sonoma Ranch Blvd will be closed to through traffic.  Motorists will be asked to decrease speed and follow detours around the construction zone.

Brownlee Avenue

From Fifth Street to Sixth Street will be closed to through traffic.  Access to residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Third Street

From Picacho Avenue to Brownlee will be closed to through traffic.  Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Sixth Street

From Hadley to McFie will be closed to through traffic.  Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Church Street

From Las Cruces Avenue to the roundabout will have one lane closed to traffic.  Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Water Street

From Las Cruces Avenue to the roundabout will have one lane closed to traffic.  Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Downtown Las Cruces

From Bowman Ave. to Las Cruces Ave. has a new traffic pattern. Traffic has been converted to two-way traffic and the change is permanent. 

Main Street

From Picacho Ave. to the Downtown roundabout will have one lane closed to traffic. In addition, the left turn lane at the intersection of Picacho Ave. will be closed.  Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

University Avenue 

From Triviz to Locust there will be intermittent lane closures. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and proceed with caution.

El Paso Projects – Go 10/Border West Expressway
