Elena “Helen” Zamora Hernandez, 93, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Sunset Vista Adult Residential.  She was born in Gallup, NM on February 14, 1926 to Tomas and Rosa S. Zamora. She attended Teachers High School in Silver City, NM and graduated from Hatch High School in Hatch, NM.  She then graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, TX. She married her beloved husband Manuel Hernandez on July 21, 1956. She was a nurse who worked at Med Square Clinic for many years and for Dr. Gilbert Arizaga in her later years. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by three sons, Eddie Hernandez and wife Arleen of Denver, CO; Mike Hernandez and wife Linda of Silver City; Manuel Hernandez Jr. of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Joy Morales, Maria Hernandez, Amanda Smith (Tyler), Felicia Hernandez, Candice Portillo (Freddie), Ashley Castillo (Laurence), Brittany and Victoria Hernandez; six great grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Zamora Jr. (Jenny) of Arenas Valley; three sisters, Gena Martinez of Silver City; Eloisa Maldonado of Phoenix, AZ; Rosemary Arellano of Silver City; son-in-law, Steve Giberti.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Manuel Hernandez, her daughter, Mary Helen Giberti, two grandchildren, Ryan and Audra Giberti, three brothers, Robert, Jesus and Elifas Zamora, two sisters, Aurora Mendoza and Elvira Walters. Visitation will be Monday, September 30 from 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga to begin at 10am. The funeral mass will follow at 11:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Bartholomew Ezenwelem officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.  Pallbearers will be Eugene Martinez, Frank Ryan, Andrew Zamora, Christopher Arellano, Arthur Zamora, and Derek Kuester. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Smith, Freddie Portillo, Laurence Castillo, Steve Giberti, Manny Corral, Tommy Zamora, Rosemary Arellano, Gena Martinez and Eloisa Maldonado.
