Gavino “Gabby” Armendariz, 89, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Friday, September 27, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 5, 1929 in Hurley, NM to Simon and Bonifacia Soto Armendariz. He is survived by three sons, Eddie Armendariz and wife Mary of Kearny, AZ, Steve Armendariz and wife Kathy of Arenas Valley, Michael Armendariz and wife Susie of Bayard; three daughters, Gene Hood of Bayard, Irene Shown and husband Ed of Port Angeles, WA, Anna Barker and husband Ralph of El Paso, TX; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Carmen Gomez and husband Michael of Bayard, Esperanza Jaquez and husband Ernest of Las Cruces; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Rosenda Armendariz (2010), his granddaughter, Amanda Quesada, two brothers, Ignacio Hernandez and Ramon Armendariz, three sisters, Hortencia Placencio, Clorinda Lerma, and Consuelo Muñiz. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels from 5-6pm with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez at 6pm.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 2 at 10am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Hurley Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife.
