goadJC Goad, long-time resident of Silver City, fell asleep in death on October 15, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, daughters Rena (Luc) and Carolyn (Alan), all of Silver City. His last days were spent at home with his family at his side. He anticipated seeing family and friends in the coming Resurrection.

Raised in west Texas and southern New Mexico, JC served on tour in the US Army where he learned refrigeration mechanics. He lived and worked in El Paso before moving his family to Silver City, where he operated Jay’s Refrigeration for several decades. JC was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as an elder in the local congregation for many years. Between his faith and his work, JC’s outgoing friendliness endeared him to all who knew him. JC had many hobbies and pastimes in life, including visiting Alaska to fish for salmon, hunting in the Caballos, hiking and camping in the Gila Wilderness, building and flying remote controlled planes, learning about geology and dinosaurs, gardening, and four-wheeling where he could.

A memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2415 Pinos Altos Road (at Pine Street) in Silver City on Saturday, October 26, 2019, beginning at 1:00 pm.
