Andres “Andy” Moreno Chavez, 68, a resident of Fierro, NM entered eternal rest Friday, November 22, 2019 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born November 30, 1950 in Santa Rita, NM to Hilario Chavez and Ignacia Moreno Chavez. Andy proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He is survived by his loving wife Idalia “Dolly” Chavez of the family home; two sons, Andy Alejandro Chavez of Hanover; Dustin Medina of Safford, AZ; two daughters, Audrey Chavez of Hurley; Diane Chavez of Bayard; eight grandchildren, Erin, Alyssia, Delilah, Angelena, Mary Jane, Jocelyn, Zriah, and Caden; three sisters; special aunt, Juanita Escobar of Silver City. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Chavez (2010). Visitation will be Monday, December 2 11-12noon at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga to begin at 12 noon.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Andy Chavez Jr., Sonny Torres, Jesse Torres, Ace Alvarez, Richard Chavez Jr., and Chris Dominguez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Escobar, Louie Escobar, Aurelio Chavez, Gilbert Torres Sr., Gilbert Torres Jr., and Albert Torres.
