Alvarado, 76, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Gila Regional Medical Center.  He was born December 9, 1942 in Casa Grandes, Chihuahua Mexico to Fernando R. Alvarado and Esperanza De La Torre Alvarado. Manny graduated from Cobre High School where he played basketball and baseball. He continued to be active in fastpitch softball and bowling as an adult. 

alvarado 02Manny was an electrician and spent most of his years at Phelps Dodge where he retired in 2002. He was a member of the Cobre Men’s Club, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and Knights of Columbus Council #9470. He was a devoted husband to his beautiful wife of 55 years and a devoted father and grandfather. Manny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and was a fan of the San Francisco 49er’s and Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed spending time with is many friends and going to “Manny’s Night”. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In retirement he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids who were his pride and joy. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Delia of the family home; two daughters, Norma Urias and husband Joe of El Paso, TX; Sandy Alvarado of Bayard; two grandchildren, Lauren Urias and Joe Urias Jr.; two brothers, Fernando  Alvarado Jr. and wife Linda of Bosque Farms, NM; Ernest Alvarado and wife Priscilla of Albuquerque; one sister, Mary Alvarado of Austin, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Armando and Ruben Daniel Alvarado.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 5 from 5:30-6:30pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6:30pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 6th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Martin Okonkwo officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Hanover Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Urias, Joe Urias Jr., Xavier Alvarado, Bob Parra, John Jay Chacon, and Art Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Andazola, Fernando Padilla, Sonny Young, Satch Rodriguez, Larry Rios, Roger Duarte, Dodo Hurtado, Henry “Siete” Torrez and the rest of his family and friends.
