Anna Renee Chavez, 57, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born April 9, 1962 in Silver City, NM to Robert M. Alvarado and Irene M. Chacon Alvarado. As a little girl, Anna enjoyed Girl Scouts, dancing lessons with Diane Ryan Studio. She spent many weekends with her grandparents in Glenwood putting her skills she learned in Girl Scouts to work. In high school, she enjoyed cruising main street with her friends. She performed with the SHS Color Guard. For many years she worked as a secretary, CNA, and caregiver. Everyone she cared for couldn’t help but love her. Not only did she care for people but also wanted to save every dog she came across. Anna loved her dogs. The most important job to her was being a mom and granny. She spent many hours on the phone with family and friends. She was a fighter, she fought cancer twice and won.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Irene Alvarado; her fiancé Lazaro Javier Dominguez; two daughters, Josephine Sapien and husband Aaron of Silver City; Ramona Fresquez and husband Alex; eight grandchildren, Esperanza, Makayla, Mia and Cruzito Sapien, Angel, Ailene, Vanessa and Isaac Corona; one sister, Ymelda M. Alvarado and fiancé Arcenio McDonald; also uncles, aunts and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Irene A. Chavez. Visitation will be Thursday, January 30 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 31 at 10am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ezenwelem Bartholomew officiating. The interment will be Saturday, February 1 at the Maldonado cemetery in Gila, NM.  Pallbearers will be Richard Muñoz, Joshua Alvarado, Anthony Stewart, Cameron Meyer, Gilbert Cordero, Eloy Muñoz, Jeremy Muñoz, and Joey Chavez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Santina Melendrez, Rhea Valles, Dolores Charon, and the rest of her family and friends.
