gonzales 02Judith R. Gonzales, 60, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, January 24, 2020 at Gila Regional Medical Center. She was born August 30,1959 in Silver City, NM to David Armijo and Natalia Villalobos Armijo.

Judy always cared for her family and put everyone first. She treasured her life with her daughter Christina. They were partners and always together. Everyone loved and adored her. She loved hearing oldies music and the radio playing first thing in the morning. She always made you feel special no matter the date, time, or who you were. She made it a point to call you on your birthday, write you a letter, or send a gift to let you know she loved you. She was everyone’s aunt or Nina. She was truly one of a kind. She was a devote Catholic at St. Francis Newman Center. She worked hard to obtain her college degree from WNMU.

Her passion for teaching kindergarten students lasted for over 20 years at Sixth Street and Harrison Schmitt Elementary. She cherished the students and her impact was everlasting. Anywhere she would go; the students would stop her and ask, “do you remember me Mrs. Gonzales”. She always remembered every student.

She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie Wacondo (Vernon), Jennifer Powell (Tyson), Christina Gonzales, and one son Paul Gonzales (Maricela). Her companion and friend Benny Gonzales of Silver city. Her sisters Sally Armijo and Rita Gomez of Silver City; brothers David Armijo Jr. and brother Robert “Bobo” Armijo of Silver City; six grandchildren; various nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Visitation will be Monday, February 3 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4 at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ezenwelem Bartholemew officiating.  Concluding service and inurnment will take place at St.Vincent Catholic cemetery at 4pm. Pallbearers will be David Armijo Jr., Josh Armijo, Paul Gonzales, Jeffrey Armijo, Brandon Reese, and Gabriel Gallegos.
