Johnny Gonzales, 77, entered eternal rest Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Tucson VA Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.  Johnny was born to his parents Pedro Lopez and Rosa Gonzales on January 30, 1946 and raised in Santa Rita, New Mexico. He joined the Marines in 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart. After serving in the military, he got a job in Tucson working for the copper mine. He worked for the mine for 35 years and retired. In 2005 he moved back home to Hurley, New Mexico. 

He is survived by his two sons, John Gonzales (Aileen) of Lake Stevens, WA and Edward Gonzales (Penny) of Bremerton, WA; his daughter, Rita Gonzales of Tucson, AZ; his four grandchildren, Gabriel Tapia (Nikki), Johnathan Gonzales (Brianna), Bianca Gonzales and Nathaniel Gonzales; his five great grandchildren, Anthony, Daniel, Luke, Elena and Mateo.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.  The Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima at 12:30pm with Father Martin Okonkwo officiating.  The inurnment will follow the service at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
