GradoC2Caroline Grado, 87, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.  She was born June 1, 1936 in Antonito, CO to Victor and Deluvina Saiz DeHerrera.

Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; she was the embodiment of selflessness, kindness, and love.

Carol's passion for cooking for her family and others was her joy. Her culinary creations were not just meals; they were expressions of her love and care for those around her.  Cooking for her family was such a staple in her home, it inspired her children to carry it on through-out their families. The warmth of her kitchen and the delicious aromas that filled her home will forever be etched in their memories.



As a devoted Catholic, Carol found comfort in her faith. Her involvement in the church choir and her dedication to the Guadalupanas Organization was a testament to her unwavering commitment to serving others and the Lord.

Her presence brought light and joy to her entire family. Being in the presence of her family and grandchildren was the true joy in her life. Her absence will be deeply felt by those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by three sons, Mickey Grado Jr and wife Christine of Silver City; Robert Grado and wife Eva of Tucson, AZ; Carlos Grado and companion Ashley of Silver City; three daughters, Yolanda Quintana and husband Ronald of Silver City; Pauline Trujillo of Silver City; Linda Hernandez and husband Mike of Silver City; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; two brothers, Filibert DeHerrera and wife Enriqueta of Silver City; Ignacio “Nash” DeHerrera and wife Danielle of Lamar, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Miguel R. Grado (2019), one son, Richard Grado, her grandson, Victor Grado, two brothers, Felipe and Filimon DeHerrera, two sisters, Mary Jiron and Rita Martinez; son in-law, Mike Trujillo.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 4th at 5:30 to 6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Richard Maynes Jr. to commence at 6pm.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 5th at 11am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating.  Concluding services the interment will follow at St Vincent Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Stephen Grado, Jerick Grado, Anthony Quintana, Jordan Grado, Christopher Grado, Jake Grado, Chico Grado, Roland Grado, Gabriel Grado, and Mikey Trujillo.
