Western New Mexico men's basketball traveled west to take on PacWest conference member and host Notre Dame de Namur for their of the NDNU Thanksgiving Classic Friday. The Argos shot off 10-three pointers in the second half alone, creating a gap the Mustangs could not close, falling 77-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

At the foul line, CJ Vanbeekum (Phoenix, AZ/Paradise) put the Mustangs up 10-6 just under the 17 minute mark.

The next five and a half minutes would go the way NDNU going on a 17-0 scoring run to take a 23-10 edge.

Both teams struggled to get baskets to fall, until Andrew Leonard (Tucson, AZ /Cienega ) broke the Argos scoring run with a couple of free throws.

Leonard would then sink back-to-back threes putting the NDNU lead to just single digits.

The duo of Malik Sanders (Durham, NC/Smithfield-Selma ) and Elijah Holifield (Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy) combined for the team's last ten points putting WNMU within one at the end of the first half.

Coming out of the break NDNU shot off two three pointers to go up 35-30.

Elijah Holifield (Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy) answered with two of his own to take the lead 36-35.
Just as the Argos started to pull away, Rodney Simon (Boston, MA/Randolph ) put in work in the paint to keep WNMU close.

Holifield knocked down both free throws to put the Mustangs at 63, which would be the last scores for WNMU.
