.Season's first accumulating snow expected over higher elevations beginning early Thursday...

A pair of upper-level storms will bring rounds of precipitation to the area. The first system is quite warm and expected to bring rain across the area later tonight and into the early morning hours. Snow levels will be quite high with this event with only the highest peaks across the Gila and Sacramento Mountains seeing any snow. A break in the rain is likely beginning Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The second system looks to bring lower snow levels with precipitation expected to begin again across the Gila early Thursday morning and later in the afternoon across the Sacramento Mountains. Snow levels will start around 7500' in the Gila and 8500' in the Sacramento Mountains before dropping about 1000' by early Friday morning, which is when precip should taper off for both locations. Snowfall accumulations of 2-4" inches will be possible above 7500', including Emory Pass and Cloudcroft, with totals over 6" possible for the highest peaks above 9000' across mainly the Black Range. Travel may become difficult during the afternoon and evening hours Thursday. Continue to monitor the forecast for updates and possible advisories.
