The Grant County Community Concert Association and WNMU Dept. of Cultural Affairs present Ilya Yakushev a world-renowned classical pianist on Thursday Nov 16 at 7 PM in the WNMU Fine Arts Theater.
Ilya's program titled “Triple Anniversary Recital” will feature three composers/works whose anniversaries are celebrated this year/season. Those are: Rachmaninoff (150th anniversary), Gershwin (125th anniversary) and Pictures at an Exhibition (150th anniversary). Specifically, he will perform three of Rachmaninoff’s Preludes, G minor, Op. 23, No. 5; G sharp minor, Op. 32, No. 12, and C sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2. Gershwin's beloved Rhapsody in Blue and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition with a movie depicting the paintings that inspired the composer. To start the program he will open with Mozart’s Fantasy in D minor.
