Silver City Art Association’s Art Walk
Friday, July 20, 2018, 05:00pm - 07:00pm |
It promises to be a fun evening of artists, locals and those coming from far and wide for the annual Clay Fest. Galleries will be putting their best foot - and best art - forward for everyone to enjoy. The focus is on the clay artists! And those who love the clay and ceramics will find exciting offerings across the art district. In addition to beautiful art, there will be demonstrations, tasty treats and some live music here and there!
Some of the participating galleries with special events are:
A-Space Studio and Gallery is offering art-on-a stick where you can create a small ceramic whimsical piece of art.
Paula Geisler’s Common Ground Gallery will have a reception for the participants in the Silver City Art Association plein aire competition that was held during the 2018 Blues Fest. Paula is also presenting “Ghost Murals” – 20-foot-tall images of local art works projected on the wall of the Gila Theater Building.
Romain Begay, his work and a reception to honor him, will be in the spotlight at Leyba and Ingalls Arts.
The Place, for this clay-focused event, will feature the new work of a WNMU art student plus a variety of offerings of other clay artists.
Sue Porter and local favorite Bill Blakemore will share the focus at Creative Hands Studio.
The Seed Boat Gallery is sadly leaving the local art scene with a closing reception. Stop by and enjoy some art and show them some love for many years of being such a welcoming location for local artists and art events.
At Soul River Gallery you can check out the work of five different clay artists.
Clay artist Catherine Russo will be at Copper Quail Gallery, where some of her amazing large clay structures are on display. Popular ceramic sea creatures of guest artist Martyn Apley are also part of the display.
Finn Gallery will be showing the work of ceramicists Peter Kaiser, Malika Crozier and Stuart Goldberg. As a bonus, Myron Weckworth’s Mimbres-themed gourds will also be on display.
Also catch a freestyle weaving demonstration at The Makery, a variety of pieces featured and specially priced at the Molly Ramolla Gallery and Miriam Hill will feature Crystal Foreman’s brilliant landscapes!
