Silver City, NM, April 1, 2016---The 5th annual PFLAG scholarship benefit dance will be held Saturday, April 9, 9:00 to Midnight, at the Buckhorn Opera House in Pinos Altos, NM. Proceeds fund the Nancy Kailing Scholarship at WNMU.
Two DJs----DJ MJP and Mr. Anderson'--will provide music, mixing current dance hits with disco era favorites. Prizes will be awarded for best-dressed and best dance moves. Donation will be $10 at the door; $5 for WNMU students with a valid ID. The dance is open to everyone. Corre Cantinas transportation will be available for the duration of the event.
Nancy Kailing, the former president of PFLAG Silver City and PFLAG Fairbanks, was a strong advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons and their families and friends. The scholarship is given each year to a WNMU student who has worked toward LGBT equality. The scholarship is open to LGBT students and allies. PFLAG is the largest grassroots organization in the US supporting LGBT persons, their parents, and their families. More information about PFLAG is available at www.pflag.org
