Change of Destination Gila Native Plant Society Field Trip Now Will be to Meadow Creek in the Pinos Altos Range

Owing to flooding in Railroad and Upper Gallinas canyons, the Gila Native Plant Society is changing the destination of its field trip to Meadow Creek in the Pinos Altos Range, at elevation 7200 feet. This moderate hike follows a perennial stream. Expect to see red cinquefoil (Potentilla thurberi), large swaths of Rothrock’s basketflowers (Plectocephalus rothrockii) and numerous other species in bloom.This moderate hike follows a perennial stream cool and shady enough to support white fir, red-osier dogwood and Mimbres figwort . All those interested should meet a little before 8 a.m. in the south parking lot of the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theater for carpooling. One way travel time is approximately 40 minutes.
