Candy Luhrsen of Grant County Federated Republican Women stands with cartThe American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 has set up a Refreshments Cart at the Silver City VA Clinic. The clinic is located on the bottom floor of the medical building across the street and a little east of the hospital. The orthopedic doctors have their offices on top floor of that building. The cart was set up on Thursday with a little help from a couple of veterans, who were there. The shelves are stocked Doritos, fruit leather, orange juice boxes, bottled water, Pringles potato chips, Pretzels with cheese, and a variety of Nabisco cookies. A case and a half of Doritos were donated by the Republican Women as part of their Caring for America Program.
The ladies at ALA 18 hope the snacks will help veterans get through the day, especially after fasting for blood draws. Snacks are free to veterans and the cart will be checked weekly and restocked.
