TOWN OF SILVER CITY RESOLUTION NO. 2018-27

FOR THE MUNICIPAL OFFICER ELECTION DAY TO BE HELD MARCH 5, 2019

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF SILVER CITY that: A. Municipal Officer Election Day shall be held on March 5, 2019. Polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. B. On Municipal Officer Election Day, persons shall be elected to fill the following elective offices: District 1 - One Councilor for a two-year term, and District 3 - One Councilor for a two-year term. C. The following districts are consolidated for the regular municipal election: CD01: Consists of Districts 1 and 3. D. Districts are consolidated and the following location is designated as the polling place for the conduct of the regular municipal election on March 5, 2019: Silver City Woman’s Club, 411 Silver Heights Blvd., Silver City, New Mexico E. Absentee Voting.

Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained only from the office of the Municipal Clerk at City Hall, 101 West Broadway, Silver City, New Mexico. All applications for an absentee ballot must be completed and accepted by the Municipal Clerk prior to 5:00 p.m., March 1, 2019. The Municipal Clerk will accept completed absentee ballots delivered by mail, or in person by the voter casting the absentee ballot, by a member of the voter’s immediate family, or by the caregiver to the voter, until 7:00 p.m. on March 5, 2019. Absentee ballots may be mailed to applicants beginning twenty-eight days before the election, or on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Absentee paper ballots may be marked in person (also known as early voting) in the Office of the Municipal Clerk during the regular hours and days of business, beginning on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 and closing at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019. The paper ballots for absentee and early voting will be counted by Dominion electronic tabulators. F. Persons desiring to register to vote at the regular municipal election must register with the County Clerk of Grant County not later than Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., the date on which the County Clerk will close registration books. G. All Declarations of Candidacy shall be filed with the Municipal Clerk on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All Declarations of Candidacy for write-in candidates shall be filed with the Municipal Clerk on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. H. The casting of votes by qualified municipal electors on March 5, 2019 shall be recorded on paper ballots to be counted by Dominion electronic tabulators.
