On September 12, 2017, the Silver City Police Department conducted a warrant roundup in Grant County. This was as a result of approximately a three month investigation. There were a total of seven officers involved in the operation. Homeland Security provided grant funding which paid for the overtime for the warrant roundup. Homeland Security, whose interest is in keeping communities safe, provides funding to local departments to assist in serving felony warrants. This partnership is of tremendous value to our community.

There were a total of 12 warrants earmarked to be served. Eight warrants were served out of the 12 during the roundup. Four persons are still wanted on outstanding warrants as of this news release

1. Vincent Sosaya, 40 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation, Accessory to Distribution of a Controlled Substance. To wit: Heroin, 

2. Gabriel Pena, 21 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation
3. Ashley Collins, 29 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation
4. Albert Morales, 39 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation, Accessory to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Commit Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
5. Arturo Cruz, 38 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation.
6. Andrew Jimenez, 30 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation, Accessory to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Commit Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
7. Estrella Jimenez, 30 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation, Accessory to Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Commit Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
8. Dolorita Gomez, 36 years of age, Silver City, Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Accessory to Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Solicitation

The warrants were as a continuation into the investigation of illegal narcotics seized from a vehicle impounded at the Police Department impound lot which was burglarized and burned. Charges were filled on 5 other persons during the initial investigation.

 In a separate arrest, Torey Logan, 41 years of age, Silver City, was arrested and charged with Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Forgery, Altering or Changing Engine or Other Numbers, Concealing Identity and OHV Operations on Streets or Highways. Additional charges are pending against Logan and possibly other persons of interest in this case.
