The Greer Family - Lindley Creek Bluegrass will appearing at the Silco Theater in Silver City at 7 PM on Friday, November 11th.

Twenty states and four countries - That is the travel history of this young family band called Lindley Creek Bluegrass from the Missouri Ozarks. From Canada, to Costa Rica, Mexico to Minnesota, the Greer family has traveled to entertain thousands of bluegrass and gospel music fans. A bold career move in December of 2009 caused them to hit the road as a full-time traveling band. Dad, John Rob, left a position as administrator at a community college to play the upright bass and travel to gigs across the country. Now, along with Mom, Kathie, and children Tate (19), Jase (16) and Katie (14), he drives the family to new venues year-round.

This journey began as a hobby in the living room of their home in Goodson, Missouri. In an effort to do something together as a family, the TV was ignored and music began to take its place. An old banjo was located and new strings were installed. Tate, the oldest son (9 years old at the time), soon began taking banjo lessons at the local music store. He quickly caught the hang of it and then had the opportunity to learn from Lonnie Hoppers, former Bill Monroe sideman. Jase, the middle child started fiddle when he was only 7 years old. He had always loved the fiddle and couldn't wait to start using that bow. Katie, the youngest child and only daughter, started mandolin at the age of 8. She doesn't remember a time when she didn't get up on stage and sing. From the living room, the music made its way to local jam sessions and then to the stage. Starting with small community events, it has grown to include performing arts halls, fairs, festivals, churches and arenas. In 2010, the band performed 130 concerts and produced two recorded projects. Lindley Creek's CDs and digital downloads are available through their website www.lindleycreek.com
