unnamedTextile Sculptor Jen Pack

Edwina Milner Women in the Arts Lecture/Exhibit Opening

Thursday November 4, 2018

6:30 p.m. Lecture in Parotti Hall, 7:30 p.m. Exhibit Opening in McCray Gallery

Pack said, “I have always been profoundly responsive to color and the sensations color can provoke. My work has been described as an artistic oxymoron: both loud and quiet, solid and transparent, hand-made and precise, delicate and aggressive, exuberant and restrained, formal and emotional. It is a reflection of me, an artist of blended culture who is both loud and quiet, urban and rural, delicate and aggressive, masculine and feminine, adventurous and routine.

I was born in the stormy seaside of rural northwest Oregon and lived on the West Coast for most of my life. I now reside in the sparse arid beauty of southwest New Mexico. I miss the ocean, but find solace in the high desert.”

“Get Ready is the Reveler’s second collection of original material and it finds the group ready, willing, and able to rock the house. The Revelers’ brand of [Louisiana] music is a masterful mix of Cajun, zydeco, and ‘50s inflected swamp rock, featuring all new compositions that capture the spirit and drive of their stylistic origins, and it is presented by a band of musicians playing at the top of their game.” – Ed Whitelock, Popmatters
