Mimbres, NM, November 2, 2018—The Wilderness Ranger District is planning to burn piles through the remainder of the fall and winter as weather conditions permit.
The plans for the Wilderness RD pile burns include the following locations:
- Off Hwy 35, and Elkhorn Road, behind Desert West Auction
- Lake Roberts off Forest Drive and FSR 4206M
- Off Hwy 35 behind Camp Thunderbird
- Off Hwy 35 near Mile Marker 16, along FSR 4085Y
- Off Hwy 35 along Lincoln Canyon Road
- Off Hwy 35 adjacent to the Old GOS Ranch
- Administrative sitesFlames and smoke will be visible from NM Hwy 35. Do not stop to investigate or take pictures unless you can do so safely. Smoke will be monitored to ensure that the New Mexico Environment Department’s Air Quality Bureau regulations are being met. Smoke-sensitive individuals and those with respiratory or heart disease should take precautionary measures.
