Wednesday, May 17, 5:30 pm at Little Toad Creek, 200 N Bullard St, Silver City, NM 88061

SILVER CITY, NM — Silver City MainStreet Project is excited to announce the May Kick-Ass Entrepreneurs — Silver City (KAE-SC) Story Time featuring La Bonita Bakery. The Entrepreneur Story Time will take place at Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery, 200 North Bullard Street in downtown Silver City on Wednesday, May 17 at 5:30 pm. The event is free to attend, with the option to purchase food and drinks, and open to the public.

Join us for Story Time and learn about how Sandra Calderon, Troy Miller and their late son Angel Acosta of La Bonita Bakery and Gila Releaf became Kick-Ass Entrepreneurs! Come hear how they came to open up their bakery, convenient store, and CBD shop. When Sandra arrived in Silver City in 2008, she did not intend to stay but, “There is no comparison to the people in Silver City” so she stayed.

However, no one was hiring in 2008 so she decided to go back to school for her bachelors but once she finished her degree no one would pay her what she was worth so she started looking for a place to rent for her bakery. It was a challenging process to find a place and “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the Fowlers!”

Join us at Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery to hear the story of Sandra's journey! Plan on coming at 5:30 pm to order some amazing food and drinks along with a bit of schmoozing before we kick-off Story Time at 6PM, followed by time for more schmoozing.

KAE-SC provides entrepreneurs of all ages and stages, across all industries, and throughout Grant County the opportunity to share their stories with an engaged audience of local fans, curious community members, and potential partners. Entrepreneurs share the inside story, including what worked for them and what resources and people helped them along the way. Each month the approximately two-hour event is hosted at different venues providing the hosts the opportunity to share their stories, as well.

Everyone is welcome at KAE-SC. The fun, social format provides attendees with the opportunity to mingle, network, and meet new friends with similar interests. The events are a great way to learn about local businesses and enjoy different host restaurants.
