maldonado 01Manuel A. Maldonado Jr., 65 of Silver City, went peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1954 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to the late Manuel and Mary Maldonado. He was the second oldest of seven siblings. He was a 1973 graduate of Silver High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after serving almost three years in which one year was served overseas. He worked for several different companies as a mechanic and alignment specialist. He was a hard worker holding two jobs at times to provide for his family. He enjoyed camping with family and loved stopping in Gila to get sugar cane after every camping trip. He loved talking about the family history and spending time at the ranch as a kid; and in the later years of his life he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by the mother of his children Kathy Genera of Silver City, NM, his eight son’s Steven Genera of California, Samuel Maldonado of Silver City, NM, Manuel Maldonado and fiancé Lucia Lucero of Hurley, NM, Daniel Maldonado and fiancé Rachel Zamora of Hurley, NM, Adam Maldonado of Silver City, NM son Frank and wife Christina Maldonado of Bayard, NM, Isaiah Maldonado of Silver City, NM and  two daughters Laura Maldonado of Silver City, and Amada Maldonado of Silver City, 26 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, four sisters Vangie Chapin of Silver City, NM, Lillian Ogas of Silver City, NM, Susie and husband Calbert Medina of Silver City, NM, and Debbie Maldonado of Silver City, NM., and several nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Mary Maldonado, Brother Samuel Maldonado, Sister Sally Maldonado, and nephew Robert Maldonado. Pallbearers will be all his sons, Samuel, Manuel, Daniel, Adam, Frank, and Isaiah Maldonado and honorary pallbearers will be his daughters Laura and Amada Maldonado, Cesario Maldonado, Mike Flores, Anastacio Gomez, Gilbert Martinez Sr., Martin Prieto, and Louis Olivas and all his nephews and nieces.  Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11 from 8:30-9:30am at Harvest Fellowship Assembly of God.  The funeral service will follow at 9:30am with Clyde Wood officiating.
