Saenz B1Beatrice B. Saenz, (aka Betty, Chatters) 89, a resident of Santa Clara, entered eternal rest June 8, 2023 at Silver City Genisis Health Care in Silver City, NM. She was born June 23, 1933 to Reymundo and Beatriz Benavidez. Beatrice was the last Benavidez of the eight Benavidez Legacy.


She is survived by one son, Samuel Ray (Carrie) of Phoenix, AZ; five daughters, Vangie Carrillo (Robert) of Las Cruces; Olga Jean Huerta (Rudy) of Arenas Valley; Mary Lily Jimenez of Silver City; Rose Mary (Zero) Saenz and companion Mark Schwabb) of Phoenix, AZ; Lou Ann Palomarez (David) of Santa Clara; grandchildren, Bobby Joe Carrillo, Regan Carrillo, Bernie Carrillo, Jessica Hawkins, Justin Jimenez, Sonia Camilli, David Palomarez Jr., Christopher Palomarez, Betty Denise Anaya, Samuel Saenz III, Ricardo Saenz, Santana Saenz, Samantha Saenz and Shawn Saenz plus numerous great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel T. Saenz; son, Tony Saenz, grandchildren, Andy and Trudy Huerta; her parents, Reymundo and Beatriz Benavidez; her sisters, Ermelinda Garcia, Lily Holguin, Virginia Sierra, Mariana Padilla, Epifania (Pifi) Soto, Felicita (Pita) Ortega and brother, Ray Benavidez.


Beatrice was a very hard-working woman. She worked at various restaurants in Silver City before retiring from the Drifter Restaurant serving them for 30 some years. She would always welcome you with her special red enchiladas. She enjoyed going to yard sales. Her and her husband Sam made the yearly traditional pilgrimage to the San Lorenzo Church in Clinton, TX to attend the mañanitas and rush back home to be able to attend the mass in San Lorenzo, the 10am mass the same day.
The holy rosary will be Thursday, June 15th at 6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Dr Gilbert Arizaga reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, June 16th at 11:30pm at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Samuel. Pallbearers are Samuel Saenz III, Ricardo Saenz, David Palomarez Jr., Christopher Palomarez, Noel Carrasco, and Justin Jimenez. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Schwabb, David Palomarez Sr., Lorenzo Anaya, Robert Carrillo, Rudy Huerta, Frank Jimenez, and Tim Chavez.


In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. She enjoyed watching Caleb and Alex commercials.
