PruitLLou Ervin Pruit passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023 at the age of 94 surrounded by the love of his family

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Lou's life will take place at One 'o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Concluding the service and inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Elene. Serving as honorary bearers will be, his grandsons, Ronnie Pruit, Nathan Gonzales, Justin Gonzales and Aaron Perez.

Lou was born on December 2, 1928 at Fort Bayard, New Mexico to Lou and Azel Pruit. He was a graduate of Silver High School and attended Western New Mexico University. Ervin served his country honorably as a United States Marine and was a WW II veteran and, upon returning to Silver City after WW II, he became a Lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. Ervin married Elene Eaton from Llano, TX on January 11, 1948. He had an extensive career as a Postal worker and Post Master. He was also a member of the Episcopal Church in Silver City. Ervin enjoyed hunting, fishing working in the garden and nurturing his fruit trees during his time off.

Lou is survived by his son, Jake Pruit; two daughters, Sharon Gaylene Long and Tammy Perez. Also PruitL2surviving him is one brother, Dale Pruit; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Lou was preceded in death by his wife Elene in 2011 and brother, Bud Pruit.
