Betty Stoddard Fenwick May 10, 1932 – October 30, 2023     Age 91

Our loving mother, and grandmother slipped away from this life on October 30, 2023 and joined her longtime sweetheart Glenn Fenwick and Daughter Peggy Taylor. She was surrounded by many of her loved ones.

Betty was born May 10, 1932 to Ruby Muir and Mike Stoddard in Rexburg, Idaho.

Proceeded in death: Spouse Glenn H Fenwick and daughter Peggy Lynn Taylor, parents Ruby Culbertson, Mike Stoddard and Edgar Culbertson, brothers Jay and Val Stoddard and Sister Arda Stoddard Sutton, Glenn’s Parents Ila Mary Curtis Fenwick and Thomas L Fenwick.

Living sibling: Blair (Sally) Stoddard

Survived by Children: Ronda Kay (Orville) Larsen of Carson City, NV, Roger Glenn (Sharon) Fenwick of Orofino Idaho, Katherine Mary Gray of Antioch CA, Rebecca Ann (Richard) Taylor of Santa Clara, UT, Allen Ray (Karen) Fenwick of Kearns Utah/Bullhead, AZ – And many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Betty married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Fenwick after meeting him at a Halloween party where upon first seeing her, he proclaimed (‘A Fenwyke!) “I am going to marry that woman!” They married December 8, 1950 and ultimately celebrated just shy of 70 anniversaries together. Through her marriage she gained two wonderful parents, Illa and Thomas Fenwick who truly considered her a daughter. Several years after her marriage to Dad - Mike Stoddard passed away and Ruby went on to marry Edgar Culbertson and she also loved him as her father. 

Mom followed Dad all over the West, wherever work took him to support his family. Mom was accustomed to this as when she was younger her dad’s work also took him to many places, including logging camp to logging camp, which she loved. Mom always put on a brave face and would pack her children and belongings set out for some new adventures.  

Mom was certainly a springtime girl with a green thumb for plants, flowers, and trees. She left a trail of beauty by planting along her way. And sharing beautiful plant cuttings with family, friends, and neighbors.

She taught her six children her love of fishing, camping, and food preservation. 

Betty also loved to crochet, creating blankets with warmth and care as well as making beautiful beaded doilies (winning several ribbons at the fair).

The most important things we learned from Mom were to continue moving forward, work hard, and say I love you.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints;  Where she held many positions within her church. She gained many friends within the Deming New Mexico Ward.

Betty will be greatly missed and remembered by all her family, friends, and community.  We love you!

Thank you to the lovely ladies who have been by momma's side to care for her these past few years.

 Mom and Dad’s ashes will be interned together at Restlawn Cemetery Pocatello, ID. In the spring of 2024.
