...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...
The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has
* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southwest New Mexico, including the following areas, Eastern Black Range Foothills, Lowlands of the Bootheel, Southern Gila Foothills/Mimbres Valley, Southern Gila Highlands/Black Range, Southwest Desert/Lower Gila River Valley, Uplands of the Bootheel, and Upper Gila River Valley.
* From this evening through Saturday afternoon
* Abundant tropical moisture associated with a tropical
disturbance will flow into the region resulting in heavy
rainfall. Rainfall amounts may exceed 2 inches over a few
locations resulting in flash flooding.
* The heavy rains may flood roads and even property especially
around low water crossings...arroyos...small streams... poor
drainage areas and near burn scars from recent wild fires. Some
road closures may be required.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
