In recognition of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society is pleased to announce a weekly film series that will run from May 14 through June 25.  The series, entitled "Crucible of Liberty: The American Revolution in Film", will be shown on Thursday evenings at the Santa Clara Armory Building, located across US Highway 180 from the Village of Santa Clara, next to Dollar General and Open Space Brewery.    Doors open at 6 p.m. with programs starting at 6:30 p.m.  Admission is free, donations are accepted.

Tree New Mexico is an urban forestry nonprofit dedicated to help communities plant and care for trees in urban areas throughout The Land of Enchantment. With volunteers, we plant 50-100 free trees in front yards to assure a cooler future for the community. The Silver City branch was founded in Oct 2025, and in that short time 125 trees have been planted. Ben Brown presents a one-man exhibition of his exquisite abstract photographs on birch panels at the Grant County Art Guild's Studio at 307 N. Texas Street during early July. The opening reception will be held on July 3 from 4-7pm during the First Friday Art Walk. Additional dates are July 4, 5, 11, and 12 from 10am to 5pm.

In the 1970s, Ben explored Europe with his camera and a Eurail Pass, discovering myriad artistic disciplines and expressions. From paintings in France, mosaics in Spain, and pottery in Greece, he developed a passion for emulating the abstraction, geometry, and texture of these various art forms through the lens of his camera.
