ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- From the onset of the COVID pandemic, Americans were told to "trust the experts" and "trust the science." Pregnant women were asked to place extraordinary confidence in government agencies, pharmaceutical companies and public-health authorities while making consequential medical decisions affecting both themselves and their unborn children.

Five years later, newly released communications are pulling back the curtain on what was being discussed behind closed doors while those assurances were being delivered to the American public.

On January 25, 2021, Dr. Anthony Fauci privately discussed COVID vaccination during pregnancy and specifically raised first-trimester miscarriage, writing that the immune response following a second dose:

"theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester."  ​The newly released exchange also shows CDC Director Rochelle Walensky responding to the concern. 

Yet just seven days later, on February 1, Abortion Free New Mexico (AFNM) independently sounded the alarm, publishing its first investigation warning pregnant women after the reported death of a 28-week unborn child following maternal COVID vaccination.

Then, two days after AFNM released its bombshell report, Fauci publicly told Americans officials were seeing "no red flags."

Five years later, the contrast is impossible to ignore: miscarriage was being discussed privately, AFNM was sounding the alarm publicly, and pregnant women were being reassured that there were "no red flags."

AFNM continued investigating throughout 2021. On March 2, we published whistleblower allegations concerning additional pregnancy complications. On May 23, we examined reported pregnancy losses and reproductive animal-study data. On July 6, we again examined adverse-event reports involving miscarriages, birth defects and other serious outcomes.

AFNM kept asking questions because informed consent is a pillar of modern medicine, and pregnant women deserved transparency when making medical decisions affecting themselves and their unborn children.
