Silver City adds another mural, honoring the ancestors and descendants of the Chiricahua Apache People.
We invite all to attend the dedication ceremony!
June 20th, 2026 from 3-5pm as a Silver City Clay Festival featured event. Location;
217 N Bullard St. Hacienda Century 21 Realty
Mural is between Bullard and Yankie Street.
The dedication event includes Chiricahua Apache Story teller Yahooskin, Native American Flute player Barbara Aguila Morrow, our local Chiricahua Apache Drummers and Speakers; Mural Artist Delia deVer, Youth mural Artists, Educator Zack Tecca and Ikegee Nant'an Tooahyaysay.
The project was inspired by Artist Delia deVer (Chiricahua Apache Nation) and conveys the beauty of the people and culture through layered imagery. Working with historic images of Chiricahua Apache women and children and photos of contemporary descendants. deVer's composition and landscape photography of Nde benah speaks to the relationship the Chiricahua Apache had and still have to their sacred lands. It conveys their dislocation, resilience and determination to reestablish their place within the Traditional Territory.
The mural includes a map of Nde benah showing the Traditional territory of the Chiricahua Apache designed by Nan'tan Joe Saenz and graphic artist Marion Mac Donald. The YCC student artists through the Silver City Youth Mural program contributed creative elements by illustrating Chiricahua Apache stories and cultural designs within the mural. The mural was made possible by a generous grant from the philanthropic 30Something group.
