Washington, D.C. - Power The Future proudly supports today’s executive order signed by President Trump to revive and and strengthen America’s coal industry. Today’s order directs the Departments of Interior and Energy to implement policies supporting domestic coal production and preserve the current operation of critical coal-fired power plants.
“President Trump’s action not only helps rejuvenate our critical coal industry, it restores common sense energy policy at a time when Americans need power the most,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “Coal remains a foundational part of our energy infrastructure because it is affordable, abundant, and within our borders. Yet, it’s been unfairly maligned by extreme environmentalists who stay suspiciously quiet about China’s booming coal industry. President Trump knows it’s time to stop apologizing for American energy production and to start leading with it.”
President Trump’s actions come at a time when the demand for electricity in America is expected to grow by nearly 16 percent in just the next four years driven by energy-intensive sectors like artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, coal production in China is up 8% over last year totaling more than 765 million metric tons.
