Washington, D.C. - After this week’s widespread rejection of the Biden-Harris Administration, Power The Future is calling on any taxpayer-funded employee traveling to the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC – better known as COP29 – to do so on their own dime.

This year’s conference is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan – more than 6,000 miles from Washington D.C., requiring 2.67 metric tons of carbon for a round-trip flight.

“Elitist climate junkets were always a dubious use of taxpayer dollars, and especially after voters made it clear they wanted a break from the status quo of the Biden-Harris administration that placed such a heavy emphasis on climate issues,” said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. “It’s bad enough these faceless and soon-to-be-unemployed bureaucrats want to use this conference to network for their next gig. If they insist on flying around the world, they should do so on their time and dime or hop aboard one of the many private jets making the trip chartered by out of touch celebrities and elitists.”

Power The Future will monitor any Biden-Harris official who travels to COP29 on public dollars and share examples of wasted funds with the new Congress and incoming administration.
