Albuquerque – In just over a week, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham will deliver her 7th State of the State address and this year Power The Future is asking her to make one small change. During her time in office, New Mexico’s state budget is up nearly 75 percent and will likely grow again this year. It’s clear the Governor has enjoyed spending billions upon billions in new revenue delivered by New Mexico’s oil and natural gas workers. And not one time in her State of the State remarks has she ever expressed gratitude to New Mexico’s energy workers.
In a full page ad yesterday, Power The Future printed an open letter to the Governor asking her to simply say “Thank You” to the state’s oil and natural gas workers.
“This isn’t about politics, it’s about respect and there’s no doubt New Mexico’s oil and natural gas workers deserve some gratitude from Governor Lujan Grisham,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. “Leadership is about more than policies and budgets, it’s about setting a tone for the state and Governor Lujan Grisham should take the opportunity to simply say ‘Thank You’ to the men and women who make her budgets possible.”
