Albuquerque – Last week, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham proudly announced the purchase of a new $1.8 million electric fire truck. However, according to a new report, the Governor's fire truck is equipped with a diesel engine for times when the electric batteries run out. The fossil-fuel engine was overlooked in the Governor's press release celebrating the "zero emission" vehicle.
"This truck is the epitome of all so called ‘green' products because there is no way it would exist or be functional without fossil fuels," said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. "Electric engines are simply not up to powering a simple road trip, much less taking on a role as critical as public safety. The diesel engine is proof positive that renewables would not exist on their own accord."
The Governor's office reportedly has not responded to questions about the diesel engine.
