Barney's right, contemporary Democrats have drifted way left of prior Democrat political positions. To such an extent, modern Dems are super-woke, borderline Marxists.

Don't take my word for it, just gaze upon the current governmental policies of New York City; Seattle, Washington; San Francisco and Los Angeles, California to get a glimpse of what these folks would like to turn our communities into.

Former Rep. Barney Frank, who passed away May 19, 2026, referred to himself as "the left-handed gay Jew," was a Progressive Democrat, gay rights activist, but not completely out in left field. He recognized the importance of being moderate enough to work with Republicans when haggling over certain proposed legislation.

He wrote his opinions regarding the Left's dramatic shift in a soon-to-be released book from Yale University Press, "The Hard Path to Unity: Why We Must Reform The Left To Rescue Democracy."

Today's Democrat leaders have strayed from Barney's political positions to such an extent they didn't even bother to stand and applaud the gold medal winning Olympic U.S. Men's Hockey Team during President Trump's State of the Union Address.

As if, somehow, recognizing the team's historic achievement would be an endorsement of Trump's Administration — which Dems will never do.

They will, however, impeach, indict, criminally charge, raid his home and aggravate Trump every chance they get.

That, and abortion, racism and LGBTQ/Trans issues seem to be the supporting legs of their party platform — with a healthy dose of socialistic propaganda drivel.

I realize not every Democrat has been snookered by these deceptions, but it seems the majority of their officials have.

JFK-period Dems' sun set years ago, to be replaced with contemporary Obama-Biden era "fundamentally change America" concepts.

Barack was more focused on these tactics, whereas Joe's deteriorating gray matter prevented him from comprehending the discussions long enough to carry on an intelligent conversation about them.

His advisors handled those assignments, often concluding with Joe's mechanical autopen signature.

Still, we see some of these changes taking place in local street protests with demonstrators carrying signs, shouting Trump is Hitler, or he's a king and similar gibberish.

When, in reality, I'd imagine many of these folks have no idea who Hitler was or what he did. Nor do they ever specify what king they are objecting to, apparently totally forgetting Trump was voted into office by an electorate consisting of Democrats, Republicans, Independents and assorted others.

Nevertheless, they still have the right to express their opinions. At least, until the 1st Amendment is tossed.

However, like Barney Frank commented: "the public isn't ready for" that.

Undoubtedly, some are, but most aren't.

Plus, there's a very good reason the 2nd Amendment was enacted following the 1st.

"Freedom of speech," without the means to enforce it, is only a disgruntled statement — easily stamped out by people who have guns.

We're currently witnessing this in Iran, and other places where citizens are defenseless against a tyrannical government.

Our ancestors were smart enough to understand a society may eventually need their personal firearms for other reasons than shooting deer, ducks and squirrels for the main dish at Sunday's church buffet.

They instinctively knew there will always be various schemes, threats and corrupt politicians trying to subvert the 1st Amendment — and any other part of the Constitution — because it jeopardizes their presumed superiority and overly inflated egos.

History is replete with these fools, but most of them are too narcissistic, or stupid, to recognize they're merely the latest headliners on the world's stage of caustic creeps and phony "Trust me, I'll never lie to you" con artists.

Eventually, their performance ends — sometimes tragically — and a new batch of replacements makes an entrance.

The sun comes up the next morning and we start all over.
