Critics of Donald Trump's plan to deport illegal immigrants generally have two objections; the cost and logistics are prohibitive, and you will be splitting up families. My response to those criticisms is since when did the government care about how much money something was going to cost? And American families are regularly split up when a parent gets arrested for domestic violence or driving while intoxicated for example. But let's look at the reality of what Trump is going to do.

First, we have to understand that these people have broken the law to come here whether their intentions or honorable or less than honorable. But Trump will begin to focus on those that have criminal records and are making our streets unsafe. If you think crime committed by illegal immigrants is not the problem, you need to quit looking at the FBI and Department of Justice statistics because they have testified in front of Congress that they are no longer collecting all of that data from the states. Go look at the state databases especially in Texas, Florida, New York, and California and you will see that illegal immigrant violent crime especially is on the rise.

They will focus on removing those people as well as preventing those people from coming in. States and municipalities will have to make a decision as to whether or not they are going to cooperate. Already several Democrat governors have said they will not and that's fine.

We will no longer provide subsidies using taxpayer money for you to provide benefits to those people. It will now be up to you to decide what to do with not only them, but also the ones that have not committed a crime and you are supporting monetarily. You made the decision to call yourself a sanctuary city or a sanctuary state so now you must live with the consequences.

We don't know how many criminals have come in, including those on the terrorist watch list. And it will likely take combined efforts of all federal law enforcement agencies to work on the problem. What we do know is that there are 1.3 million illegal immigrants who have had their day in court and lost. Alejandro Mayorkas has said that the Department of Homeland security is not enforcing those orders by removing the people because they allegedly don't have the resources. Those of you that say some people are here for good reason or seeking asylum cannot argue that these people haven't had their day in court. And they were refused probably by Democrat-party appointed judges. So we don't want them either

Businesses that hire illegal immigrants will also be targeted. Construction companies, meat packing plants, and the travel industry will likely see a lot of people quit showing up for work. But again, that's a consequence of hiring people that are not here legally and probably paying them less than you would be required to pay citizens or legal immigrants. And I would guess that you're probably not paying workers compensation or unemployment benefits either. And that demonstrates the Third Point, those that are here illegally but have come to actually work will self deport and then try to come back legally. It is estimated that $65 billion this year will be sent back to Mexico by people that are here working illegally. They certainly aren't paying taxes, aka their fair share.

Finally, defunding the NGOs that facilitate people coming to the US illegally and then arrange to find them housing and work. Much of the money that is supposed to go to these people is not getting to them because various groups have analyzed the flow of money and found out that the officers of these nonprofit organizations are making a pretty good living. People like Donald trump's former chief of staff who was making quite a nice salary after having received a no-bid contract to house illegal immigrants.

Reform of our immigration laws must be enacted. A promise that has been broken since the Ronald Reagan amnesty days. We must streamline the process so that people that want to come here and contribute to our society have the opportunity to do so. We need to allow more people in and we need to have sponsors for many of these people who want to work. For those of you that "stand on the side of love" remember most of these people live in fear every day believing they could be deported at any time. It's like having the sword of Damocles hanging over their head. If we reform our immigration processes they will have a chance to come back and live the life they truly want to live, enjoying freedom.
