I did not watch the debate last night. I will watch it later this weekend. I prefer to read and watch the reactions among the propaganda arm of the federal government as well as among my acquaintance group. Then I'll watch it and see who had a more accurate depiction. Sadly, the depiction among mainstream media was predictable and consistent.
I went to the websites of MSNBC, CNN, ABC and others and listen to a little bit on radio. As they generally do, their headlines were written and repeated verbatim. Biden disappoints: Trump lies and deflects. Apparently mainstream media now believes they can't lie to us about Joe biden's mental acuity or lack thereof. They will now admit that he is having issues and the claim that the videos we've seen before were cheap fakes created by artificial intelligence. Now the discussion about who replaces him will pick up steam.
One of the undeniable truths of life in my world is that if you read a story and the reporter or organization does not link to source documentation or provide specific examples of a claim, then it cannot be trusted. As I read through the articles on the various websites they all claimed that Donald Trump lied about January 6th, about immigration, and other issues. But not one of them gave a specific comparison as to what he said last night and how it differs from what he said before or what the truth was as they claim. MSNBC had a link to another article that was supposed to show that Donald's claims about Nancy Pelosi and her failures on January 6th were false. The article was about Trump's desire to increase the scope of Presidential immunity.
Sadly this tactic works because people don't want to believe that they are being lied to by anyone. Despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary. One young woman on CNN's panel of undecided voters from Michigan said she had made-up her mind to vote for Joe Biden because he is the one that could protect her. She dismissed what she saw with her own eyes about his mental capacity saying that all of us struggle to speak coherently in our day-to-day lives. I wanted to grab her, shake her, and remind her that Joe Biden is a professional speaker. Compare the videos of him speaking publicly over the last 50 years to how he speaks now. I've never liked what he said but he was certainly a much more accomplished speaker in terms of being able to deliver a speech.
Now we will wait for the Democrat party's nominating convention. Then we will find out who is going to replace Joe Biden. I have claimed for several months that there will be the proverbial "October surprise" to remove Joe Biden. The truth is Barack Obama is running the country. If he believes that Joe Biden cannot win. then Joe will be removed as the nominee. If Barack believes that Kamala Harris can beat Trump, legitimately or otherwise, she will be the nominee because he can control her. If not, my money is on Michelle Obama.
If this election were not so important to the future of our country, it would certainly be an entertaining exercise to observe as a historian. Now it's like watching a train wreck.
