Zohran Mamdani is now the mayor-elect of New York City. During the campaign he toned down his communist rhetoric. He lied about his Islamist beliefs. In doing so he appealed to the socialist/ communist wing of the Democrat party and everyone that hates Donald Trump. The New York Times did everything they could to help get him elected but now that he is ready to take office, the editorial board is asking him not to do what he has promised to do.
In their editorial on Tuesday, the New York Times editorial board congratulated the mayor elect. They then made the following statement: "In almost every area that featured prominently in the mayoral campaign," wrote the Times, "Mr. Mamdani can improve life in New York by marrying his admirable ambition to pragmatism and compromise." The board asked him to "start by building a leadership team light on democratic socialists and heavy on officials with records of accomplishment and proven management skills."
They are admitting that they don't like his campaign platform. They don't like that he will embrace Sharia law. They know his policies will force what is left of the elite upper class out of the city. The burden of paying for all of his social welfare programs will fall upon the middle class. It will destroy the city. They supported his socialist/communist Sharia agenda because he also campaigned heavily against Donald Trump. The Times' editorial board hates Donald Trump so much, they like many of the voters, we're willing to turn a blind eye to his real motive, his real agenda, which they know will be disastrous for New York City.
They cannot really believe Mamdani will acquiesce to their pleas. But it is typical of many far-left liberals. They will vote for anyone that hates the same things or people that they hate and then hope they don't keep their promises. And they are constantly surprised when the wolf actually eats the sheep.
The truly sad thing is that this could have been prevented. Just like the results of many of the elections around the country, if the average American had just taken the time to vote. Those that have jobs, believe in the American dream, love their freedom and liberty, once again we're just too busy trying to carve out a life to stop the movement that will destroy our country. The far-left liberals are a clear minority in our country, in our states, and in our cities. But the one thing they are not is lazy when it comes to voting.
