Billy the Kid Dinner Theatre in Rodeo, NM

Relive the life and trial of Billy the Kid, the West's most notorious outlaw, at a special one-night dinner-theater performance of "The Trial of Billy the Kid" by Las Cruces historian David G. Thomas, featuring the music of Dan Crow.

The "Kid" will come back to life on Saturday, Aug. 13, starting at 5 p.m. at the Geronimo Event Center at the Chiricahua Desert Museum in Rodeo. 

Former Hidalgo County Sheriff Bill Cavaliere will portray the prosecuting attorney. 

The event kicks off with a barbecue pulled-pork dinner featuring a musical performance by Dan Crow, who won Emmy Awards for his songs for Disney's "Winnie the Pooh" and "Dumbo's Circus." Crow has entertained in concerts across the country and around the world. He is a composer and Western music historian and has recorded dozens of songs about the American frontier. 

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will feature barbecue pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, and iced tea or water. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. Cost for the event is $30 per person and includes dinner, the concert, and the play. To attend just the play, admission is $10 at the door. 

Henry Antrim, also known as William Bonney, also known as Billy the Kid, was accused of murdering Lincoln County sheriff William Brady on April 6, 1881. The trial took place at the Doña Ana County Courthouse in Mesilla, NM. Was the killing justified? Decide for yourself after seeing the trial. The play is being performed by local actors from the Rodeo and Portal area.
