NMAN Tech Showcase Event
Thursday, October 13, 2022, 09:00am - 06:00pm |
This Thursday from 5-7pm, the Future Forge Community Makerspace is hosting the tech showcase for the New Mexico Association of Museums, which is holding its annual conference in Silver City this week. This event is open to the public, who are encouraged to explore exciting new museum experiences and exhibit technology at the Future Forge’s new location on 307 E. College Avenue.
Museum professionals and tech consultants from across New Mexico will demonstrate emerging educational and interactive technologies. Content of the exhibits will focus on, but not be limited to, the conference's theme of responses to conditions of the past three years, addressing geopolitical unrest, endemic viruses, looming recessions, and raging wildfires. Demonstrations will include the Santa Fe Children's Museum’s mobile planetarium dome, Ideum’s famous interactive touch table kiosks. The Future Forge has created a life-size statue of R2-D2, the largest 3D Printed statue in Southwest New Mexico, which attendees will assemble piece by piece. There will be many other organizations setting up informational booths and stations in the space as well, and food vendors will be on site too.
