"Engaged Citizenry," at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City

Lynda Aiman-Smith will discuss how civic engagement entails individual and collective actions designed to identify and address issues of concern to the local community, or the greater public.
“Civic engagement can take many forms, from individual voluntarism to organizational work,” she said.
Aiman-Smith will talk about the various ways that people can learn how to be active citizens and identify potential ways to engage that may be new and exciting. Drawing from current published data, She will also discuss what we know about current civic engagement in various groups.
Lynda Aiman-Smith is a multi-generational New Mexican. Before retiring to Silver City she was a tenured faculty member at the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University. She has been an active citizen in a number of non-profits and served for eight years as a Silver City Town Councilor.
