Santa Clara lifts fire restrictions

The Village of Santa Clara held a regular meeting July 23, 2026. Mayor Arnold Lopez called the meeting to order. Mayor Pro Tem Albert Esparza and Trustees, Peter Erickson, Olga Amador and Ralph Trujillo attended.

The council approved the agenda with changes to proclamations and approved the minutes from June 25, 2026. They also approved the department head reports for June.

Mayor's report

Lopez said his fire assignment had gone well and thanked everyone for continuing their roles and stepping up in his absence. A large portion of turf had been finished at the bike park, and it looked great. He spoke to the plans for funding the construction of the new water line from Santa Clara to Hanover to be its main water source while their wells run back up. He and Sheila Hudman, village administrator, had attended the Regional Water Project meeting to make the plans for the water line. Music in the Park will run through August and September at the splash park. The hours will be changing. Santa Clara now runs all the senior centers in the county. Lopez said he was glad they could continue to deliver meals to senior citizens.

Public comments none currently

New business

Thomas Caddel requested to be on the agenda because of concerns about zoning ordinances. Currently they have a petition against code enforcement but people have been afraid to sign in fear of retaliation. The petition has to do with the vehicles that should be covered by code. Caddel said this would be wrong. Lopez reminded him he had an open door policy and if any resident had concerns or complaints to come to him. He added he had not received any regarding code enforcement.

Resolutions

The council approved resolution 2026-13 for fourth quarter transfers.

The council approved resolution 2026-14 for fourth quarter budget adjustments.

The council approved resolution 2026-15 for the fourth quarter report.

The council approved resolution 2026-16 for the final budget for 2026/2027

Proclamations

The council declared the lifting of stage one and two fire restrictions.

First regular meeting will be August 13, 2026, 2026, at 5:00 pm

Second regular meeting will be August 27, 2026, at 6:00 pm
