Public input questions for everyone to put their ideas on each poster.
On October 7, 2026, the town of Silver City held a townhall at the City Hall Annex. They will hold another one on October 14, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The reason for the townhall is to collect the public's input on what to look for in a new town manager.
Surveys had been sent to the town council, administration and department heads for their input.
They had done this differently from other townhalls and conducted it more like an open house. The room had been set up with large poster paper and a question on each one with Post-it notes to attach responses to those questions. If people had suggestions, they did not want to post, a closed box was provided to put the suggestions in to remain anonymous.
The questions posed:
What is the culture of Silver City?
What would be the priorities of Silver City?
What would success look like in one to two years of a new town manager?
What competencies would be important for the new town manager?
What would success look like in the long term of a new town manager?
What would be the significant opportunities and challenges the new town manager would have?
What would be the significant opportunities and challenges the new town manager would have with the Silver City community?
What will be the most pressing needs of the town?
What is working well with the town government?
What could be improved?
Within the first few hours a few things had been prevalent on the questions. People had written listening, experience, good judgement, city and county working inline together more, opportunities so kids would stay, road improvement and affordable housing.
This town hall will be held again on October 14, 2026, from 4:30-6 p.m.at the City Hall Annex in the second floor conference room.
After the next town hall they will compile all the comments made for the two town halls and make that part of the information they send to the search firm that had been hired to help them find candidates for the position to present to the council. The surveys sent to the council, administration and department heads will also be included.
