...JUNE HEAT IS HERE...

The first summer heat wave is here with many lowland locations
expected to see 100 degrees for the first time this season either
today or Monday. Highs will increase further by mid-week, topping
out around 105, and heat advisories may be needed. After Thursday,
there is uncertainty on whether the heat wave will continue and
intensify or if some relief will arrive.

People tend to be most vulnerable to heat early in the season. Be
sure to drink plenty of water. Shift outdoor work and activities
to early in the morning or later in the evening. Wear a hat, loose
fitting clothing, and sun screen. Avoid alcohol, and become
familiar with the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Heat Stroke is a medical emergency. Call 9-1-1 if someone is
showing signs of heat stroke.
