FIRE RESTRICTIONS

(Flame, Fire & Burn Restrictions)

In accordance with Ordinance No. 14 02, the Grant County Board of Commissioners has duly authorized the Grant County Manager and Fire Chief to issue flame, fire, and burn restrictions to any extent necessary for the protection of the public and property of the inhabitants of unincorporated Grant County.

Fire Restrictions During Drought or Emergencies

During severe or extreme drought or other fire emergencies, Grant County may impose fire restrictions. These include:

Prohibition of open fires, including campfires and charcoal grills (with limited exceptions in designated developed campgrounds) Prohibition of open burning of debris, trash, fields, or vegetation Restrictions on outdoor smoking Restrictions on welding unless specific safety measures are in place Prohibition of fireworks, aerial devices, and other ignition sources deemed hazardous Additional restrictions as posted for specific areas 

These restrictions remain in effect until officially lifted and will be publicly posted and published. 

Fire Hazards Are Prohibited

It is unlawful to:

Maintain unsafe accumulations of flammable materials Leave vacant buildings unsecured with flammable debris inside Discard lit cigarettes, matches, or other burning materials Allow fires to escape control or leave fires unattended 

Penalties & Enforcement

Violations are a misdemeanor Penalties may include: 

o Fines of up to $300

o Up to 90 days in jail

o Or both
