Zero platform fees. Zero commission fees. Zero corporate chains.

SILVER CITY, N.M. — Silver City resident Quantay Person has launched Gig Local Radar (giglocalradar.com), a free online marketplace built for local artists, home cooks, bakers, and makers.

"I've been noticing incredible artists, home-cooks, bakers and makers get buried by social media algorithms and give up 20–30% of their hard-earned money to big tech apps," said Person. "So I decided to build something just for them."

On Gig Local Radar, makers post their goods for free and keep every dollar. Buyers pay makers directly through Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, or cash at pickup. National chains and franchises are not allowed, so the spotlight stays on independent neighbors.

The site is funded by independent local businesses that sponsor their town, which keeps it free for makers. The platform also includes a Community Giving page where residents can find and donate to local charities.

Gig Local Radar started in Silver City and is open to towns nationwide, with local ambassadors helping launch it in their own communities.

Makers can claim their free spot, and shoppers can browse local goods, at giglocalradar.com .
